Volumes 2 and 3 of Former Prime Minister’s Books Donated to UB Libraries
Nassau, The Bahamas, October 23, 2024 – Colina Insurance Limited (Colina) representatives donated copies of Volumes 2 and 3 of “I Say What I Mean and I Mean What I Say: Hubert A. Ingraham In His Own Words” to The University of The Bahamas’ (UB) Harry C. Moore Library and Information Centre in NP, and the library at UB-North campus in Grand Bahama. These volumes follow Colina’s previous gift of Volume 1 to the University’s libraries in 2022.
“Colina is proud to be Bahamian, and we are deeply committed to preserving our nation’s history,” said Maxine V. Seymour, Director, Corporate Communications, Colina. “We salute former Prime Minister the Right Honorable Hubert Alexander Ingraham, his production team and publisher, Guanima Press Ltd on the release of Volumes 2 and 3, and are pleased to partner with the University to ensure that current and future generations have access to his legacy of leadership.”
Colina is committed to youth development, education, health and wellness.
“University students will benefit from the expansion of this body of work,” said Seymour. “At Colina, we believe that knowledge is power and fundamental to the growth of our society. We are proud to continue our support of The University of The Bahamas and its mission to cultivate academic excellence and enrich the minds and lives of Bahamians.”
The University Librarian, Elsie Bain, expressed gratitude for the donation that will enhance the library’s resources.
“The addition of the new volumes will ensure that students, scholars, researchers in general and members of the public at large will have access to accounts of the policies, decisions and leadership philosophies of the Rt Hon. Hubert A. Ingraham, enhancing their understanding of the political and socio-economic landscape in The Bahamas,” said Bain.
Maria Teresa Butler, Executive Editor and Book Project Team Leader, acknowledged Colina’s long-standing support of Bahamian education and heritage preservation.
“The support of Colina Insurance Ltd has been invaluable,” said Butler. “Equally, this donation demonstrates the company’s support of the University of The Bahamas and their commitment to empowering future generations through knowledge and the preservation of our shared national heritage.”
“These books are not only a reflection of your exceptional leadership but also a source of inspiration for those who will follow in your footsteps,” said Seymour. “After reading about your decisions, policies and leadership philosophies, we hope that UB students and other library patrons will be motivated to build on the foundation that you have laid for our nation.”
This latest donation by Colina Insurance Ltd, in a series of significant gifts, attests to the company’s belief in the importance of fostering education and intellectual growth in The Bahamas and to its long-term commitment to support quality development. In their continued commitment to community and education the company has long been a supporter of educational initiatives across The Bahamas. This donation reflects the company’s belief that the past informs the future, and investing in the preservation of Bahamian history through accessible academic resources is essential. By making these books available to the University of The Bahamas, Colina aims to inspire current and future students to take an active interest in the political and social development of their country.
The donation was presented at UB’s Oakes Field campus on University Drive.
