Team Colina Attends Red Ribbon Ball

Nassau, The Bahamas, November 2, 2024 – Team Colina attended the 28th Annual Red Ribbon Ball under the theme “Diamonds and Pearls” in support of The Bahamas AIDS Foundation at the Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island.

Colina has been a leading corporate sponsor of the Ball since inception when its legacy company, Imperial Life Financial, envisioned and pioneered the event which has become a major fundraiser for The Bahamas AIDS Foundation.

The Red Ribbon Ball is the Foundation’s main fundraiser, serving as one of the ways the public is encouraged to support the never-ending work of the Foundation.

“Colina is committed to health, wellness and youth development,” said Maxine V. Seymour, Director of Corporate Communications. “We proudly support The Bahamas AIDS Foundation’s work in championing the rights of those infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS.”

“This evening is not only a testament to the progress we have achieved, but it also serves as a reminder of the work that still lies ahead,” expressed Arame Ford- Strachan, President of The Bahamas AIDS Foundation. “The proceeds from this Ball will Support HIV testing, education and awareness programs, enhanced advocacy, vital care for high-risk populations, expanded access to life saving treatment, efforts to reduce food insecurity and our adolescent and child outreach initiatives.”

“Colina proudly stands alongside The Bahamas AIDS Foundation in their mission to improve lives, provide vital services, and foster a healthier, more informed future for all,” said Seymour. “The company looks forward to supporting this vital cause for years to come, working together to build a stronger, more resilient Bahamas.”

About The Bahamas AIDS Foundation

The AIDS Foundation of The Bahamas was founded in 1992 by the Zonta Club of Nassau with support from Dr. Perry Gomez, Director of the National AIDS Programme. Its mission is to provide education, awareness, prevention, and support for people living with HIV/AIDS. Since 1994, Colina (Imperial Life) has been a major partner, hosting the annual Red Ribbon Ball, the Foundation’s key fundraiser. In 1997, Colina donated property for the Foundation’s offices, where it also houses a food and clothing bank and offers space for other NGOs. Over the years, the Foundation has achieved significant milestones, including reducing mother-to-child HIV transmission and providing care for HIV+ orphans. In 2007, the Foundation shifted focus from a residential children’s home to an Outreach Centre, which since 2010 has supported adolescents living with HIV. The Foundation is now recognized both locally and internationally for its contributions to the fight against HIV/AIDS, with strong partnerships and volunteer support.
