Colina Sponsors the Nassau Music Society

NMS Embarks on Second Half Century with launch of 51ST Season

Nassau, The Bahamas, November 23, 2019 – Colina Insurance Limited is a primary sponsor of the Nassau Music Society again this year.

The Nassau Music Society launched its 51st season on October 25 with a brass extravaganza at Baha Mar. This season’s line-up includes concerts by an eclectic variety of musicians from The Bahamas and around the world, playing a number of genres from classical to contemporary.

In coming months, the Nassau Music Society will host performances at different venues across the island. The featured artists will also conduct a number of workshops for primary and high school students. The season will conclude with a grand finale performance at St Paul’s Church Hall on March 29, 2020. “I am ecstatic about Colina’s enduring partnership with the Nassau Music Society,” said Maxine Seymour, Director, Corporate Communications at Colina Insurance Limited.

“The Society uses music as a tool to positively impact youth in our country who may otherwise not be exposed to world-class performances by esteemed artists,” Seymour asserted.

“In addition to its ongoing educational and outreach work, we were particularly impressed by the Society’s Music Matters fundraising initiative launched in the wake of Dorian to help rebuild music education programs in Abaco and Grand Bahama,” concluded Seymour.

Colina prides itself in its corporate stewardship and this partnership is one of many examples of the company’s commitment to the Bahamian public.

“We have an excellent concert series planned plus bigger and better outreach initiatives in the pipeline, focused on bringing music and educational programming to a greater number of children and students,” said Cynthia Van Wynen, Executive Director, the Nassau Music Society.

“The Nassau Music Society is very grateful to Colina for its generous sponsorship over the years. We would not be able to do what we do without Colina’s support,” Wynen continued.

About the 51st Annual Concert Season

The Nassau Music Society has an exciting and diverse range of concerts and events planned, from a brass duo, to a Bahamian Showcase, a second annual fundraiser featuring a piano soloist, and a chamber ensemble. On the education and student enrichment side, we are planning two separate children’s concerts (one for primary schools and the other for high schools) as well as performance seminars and workshops so to include a greater number of students. Our visiting artists will also conduct masterclasses and we will continue the student enrichment program where students attend our Sunday concerts for free.
