Nassau, The Bahamas, April 15, 2025 – Colina Insurance Limited (Colina) has again demonstrated its commitment to fostering youth development and academic excellence by proudly serving as a Patron Sponsor of the 2025 Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year Foundation (BPSSYF) Awards Program.

The Company recently contributed a $4,000 scholarship to be awarded to the 6th Place Finalist, while reconnecting with Mariaelena Robinson, who was the 6th Place Finalist and recipient of Colina’s Patron Award in 2024. Robinson currently attends St. Augustine’s College and shared her reflections on her journey through the BPSSY Program.

“At first, I felt quite nervous but by the end, I was filled with confidence and pride. It truly was an amazing opportunity.” She mentioned that some of her former competitors have now become her 7th-grade classmates. “It’s great to see familiar faces from the competition; a few are even in my homeroom.”

Established in 1997, the BPSSYF, through its Awards Program, recognises the accomplishments of outstanding primary school students throughout The Bahamas. Ricardo P. Deveaux, President & CEO of the BPSSYF, expressed heartfelt appreciation for Colina’s unwavering support.

“Colina has been supporting the Foundation for 12 years, and we are incredibly grateful,” said Deveaux. “Your support is more than a donation. It’s an investment in the lives and futures of our nation’s children.”

This year, 118 exceptional primary school students from across the nation will compete for the prestigious title of 2025 Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year, along with more than $300,000 in scholarships and prizes. Since its establishment, the program has recognised over 3,200 students and awarded scholarships valued at over $3 million.
