Colina is a Bronze Sponsor of CIBC Walk for the Cure

Nassau, The Bahamas, September 13, 2023 – Colina Insurance Limited (Colina) is a bronze sponsor of the 2023 CIBC First Caribbean’s Walk for the Cure, which aims to raise funds and awareness for the fight against cancer. Colina’s employees will participate in the event.

“We are proud to announce our sponsorship of Walk for the Cure, for another consecutive year,” said Maxine V. Seymour, Director, Corporate Communications, Colina. “Colina is committed to the health and wellness of people in The Bahamas and getting people moving is important, especially when it’s for a cause like cancer.”

“Our employees eagerly registered to walk,” said Seymour.

“CIBC First Caribbean is in its twelfth year of hosting Walk for the Cure,” said Antionette Fox, Walk Manager, CIBC First Caribbean. “The Walk for the Cure is an event that happens throughout our region.”

“CIBC deserves to be commended for their level of dedication to this regional event,” noted Marcus J. Bosland, Resident Actuary, Colina. “The power and vigor when we come together as a community is an invaluable contribution that has a tremendous impact on our population,”

“We want to ensure that persons who are fighting the battle against cancer have a winning chance that gives them the opportunity to get the care that they need,” said Fox.

Colina prides itself on community involvement and support. The Company also supported the the Sandilands Geriatric Push-a-thon and The Bahamas Kidney Association’s Fun, Run, Walk earlier this year.

Walk for the Cure is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 7, on New Providence, Grand Bahama, Abaco and Eleuthera. The New Providence walk will begin at Goodman’s Bay Corporate Centre at 6:30 a.m. The walk will feature a fitness pro warm up, kiddie corner, meditation area and fun for the whole family. Proceeds from Walk for the Cure will be donated to eight organizations across The Bahamas.

Walk for the Cure has become the foundation’s flagship activity and one of the Caribbean’s largest cancer fundraising and educational initiatives raising over USD$3 million over the past decade. It has attracted thousands of walkers from The Bahamas in the North to Trinidad in the South and the 13 other territories in between which make up the bank’s regional footprint. The walk has spawned a regional network of sponsors which has grown with each year of the event.
