Nassau, The Bahamas, May 31, 2021 – Colina Insurance Limited’s (Colina) Internal Audit department received top awards at a ceremony recently held by The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Bahamas Chapter in celebration of its 30th Anniversary.

The IIA Bahamas Chapter presented its Distinguished Auditor Practitioner Awards, recognizing key individuals at various professional levels who have demonstrated significant impact within the past five years and have made progressive contributions to the Internal Audit profession.

Giorgina Duncanson-Thompson, Chief Group Internal Auditor; Leonardo Ferguson, Supervisor and Dario Penn, Junior Internal Auditor received the prestigious awards that are presented every five years.

“Congratulations are extended to Colina’s Internal Audit Team!” said Giorgina Duncanson-Thompson, Chief Group Internal Auditor, Colina Holdings Bahamas Limited. “I am honored and proud of our recent achievements.”

“The team received three of the four Distinguished Auditor Practitioner Awards which further demonstrates our commitment to the profession and our dedication to add value and improve our clients’ operations to accomplish their objectives,” said Duncanson-Thompson.

International Internal Audit Awareness Month is observed each May as a way of celebrating and promoting awareness of the Internal Audit profession. Colina’s Internal Audit Department prioritized staff education during the month and also hosted a virtual Meet and Greet. This year’s theme is “Internal Auditors: We are Relevant, Adaptable, Resilient”.
