Colina Accelerates Action with IWD Lunch & Learn
Nassau, The Bahamas, March 7, 2025– In celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD), Colina Insurance Limited hosted a special Lunch & Learn event for their staff, focused on financial empowerment for women. This year’s theme for IWD, “Accelerate Action,” calls for intensified efforts to drive progress and create meaningful change. Colina answered that call by fostering financial literacy and supporting a cause that uplifts women in need.
The featured speaker, Tiffany Cartwright, Investment Manager at Colina Financial Advisors Ltd.(CFAL), led an insightful discussion on the importance of financial empowerment, equipping attendees with the knowledge and tools to achieve financial security and freedom.
“Financial independence is very important, you have to plan your future,” explained Cartwright. She went on to emphasise the significance of self-care for women. “As women, we care for everyone and tend to leave ourselves for last. It’s important to take some time to care for yourself because the future is uncertain.”
Cartwright’s presentation included a budget guideline that helps individuals break down their salary to determine how to allocate their money. “Bills should be a priority, which is why 60% of your salary should be allocated to them. Following that, set aside 10% each for regular savings and charity. Your pension should receive 5%. Once you have full control over your bills, you can allocate 15% to activities you enjoy, “she detailed.
Colina’s Lunch & Learn events are designed to align with the awareness themes of each month, providing employees with educational opportunities that support their personal and professional growth. Recognizing the importance of financial security, Colina ensured that both male and female staff members had access to valuable insights on products that could help safeguard their future.
“Empowering women with financial knowledge is a critical step toward fostering independence and security,” said Maxine V. Seymour, Director of Corporate Communications at Colina. “We are proud to champion initiatives that drive action and create positive change within our community.”
Colina remains dedicated to supporting the advancement of women and will continue to invest in initiatives that promote economic independence and social well-being. The Lunch & Learn session was livestreamed companywide allowing participants on the islands of New Providence, Exuma, Grand Bahama and Abaco to engage and share their insights.
