The Nassau Grouper is typically found in underwater caves and around reefs. Fished commercially and recreationally, it is often used to create tasty Bahamian delicacies. To protect the Nassau Grouper and allow time for reproduction, there is a closed season every year from December 1 to February 28.
Leaders from 46 countries gathered in Nassau for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in October, 1985. Delegates took an official photo aboard The Royal Yacht Britannia.
