Bahamas Track and Field Alumni Inaugural Awards Gala Supported

Nassau, The Bahamas, May 3, 2024 – Team Colina proudly attended The Bahamas Track and Field Alumni’s Inaugural Awards Gala, celebrating the legacy of their late colleague Alpheus “Hawk” Finlayson alongside other former track and field athletes. The event took place on Friday, May 3, 2024, at The Balmoral Club.

“As a Bahamian, we are deeply committed to the health, wellness, and all-around development of Bahamians,” said Maxine V. Seymour, Director, of Corporate Communications, Colina. “Our former athletes brought great pride to our country with their display of extraordinary talent over the years and deserve every honour.”

Themed ‘Honoring our Past, Celebrating the Present, and Inspiring the Future,’ the gala served as a significant reunion for former national team members, including Olympians and local athletic heroes. It marked the first grand reunion of its kind, aimed at celebrating the rich history and continued excellence of Bahamian track and field.

“Mr. Alpheus ‘Hawk’ Finlayson is a big part of our past and extremely important in establishing, building, and supporting our sport of track and field, until his dying day, in our beautiful Bahamas,” said Onesimus A. Strachan, Chairman and President, Bahamas Track and Field Alumni. “He literally could be labeled as a Founding Father.”

Those Honored at the inaugural awards include: Livingston Bostwick; Doyle Burrows; Winston “Gus” Cooper; Alpheus “Hawk” Finlayson; Martin Lundy; Adam & Maxine Munroe; Keith Parker; Frank “Pancho” Rahming; Thomas A. Robinson; Elaine Thompson; Neville Wisdom; and Monica Woodside.

The event not only paid tribute to past achievements but also inspired current and future athletes, promoting a legacy of excellence that aligns with Colina’s commitment to building a better community.

Alexis Hanna, daughter; Roosevelt and Spence Finlayson, brothers; and Laurena Finlayson, niece were in attendance and accepted the award on behalf of Alpheus “Hawk” Finlayson. Kino McCartney, Branch Manager and Sandra D. Walkes, Assistant Branch Manager at 21 Collins, along with Chantal A. Horton, Communications Officer and Raquel Adderley, Claims/Group Administrator represented Colina.
