The day is called 242 Day because it is celebrated on the 24th day of the second month and the numbers reflect The Bahamas’ area code. “We wanted to celebrate 242 Day by doing more than just wearing our colours but by supporting a local Bahamian vendor,” said Lavaughn Fernander, Customer Service Manager. “What better way to celebrate than with some conchy conch fritters?”
